Piracy and Crime: Schemes and Scams_ Reflection
Piracy and Crime: Schemes and Scams
There are legal approaches that have been developed throughout the history of the Internet to address the different types of Internet crime. These Internet crimes include penalty for using unlicensed software. To prevent this problem one of the most important step is preventing software theft and copyright infringement. Computer crime is any illegal activity that is comes through the use of a computer. Employees should be educated about software privacy. Using Metering software can help track the use of software. A server software license should also be used to allow a number of users to connect to the network. The BSA can view unauthorized use of software as stealing someone else’s property.
Cyberbullying similar to cyberstalking is described as continued harassment and torment with the use of an electronic communications device, most often via the Internet. The main difference is that cyberbullying involves adolescents as victims and/or offenders. Cyberbullying is now being prosecuted under the harassment statutes. It involves stalling online. It involves using the internet, its e-mail, the chat room and the other types of electronic communications to stalk another person. Pretexting also breaks the law. This is uncovering hidden financial information about people under false pretenses is called pretexting. Online investigators who use pretexting are breaking the law. There is very little protection of this in the U.S. The best thing to do is to educate you about privacy issues. Spyware can be installed for free to protect your computer. Websites and e-mails can be bugged. This is called web bugs a tool for gathering information. Web bugs are an asset to spammers because it lets them know if you e-mail is valid. The bottom line is that nobody should use the internet to collect information from web pages.
